Week Ten – I’m a Wireman Again!

Fresh out of my Environmental Sciences University course, I ran off to work with the circus. I got into rock and roll touring as firstly a human forklift truck and secondly as an engineer, since I wanted to work as a live sound mixer for bands, like Mick Hughes, my chum that works front of house for Metallica. (See the video of his desk, here!) And in between shows, you would go into the warehouse and make and mend. I was lucky enough to get a gig with TFA in 1984 when they had the huge Bob Dylan/Carlos Santana tour. I did the little shows like Ian Dury and wired a lot of PA kit. It was very educational as well as therapeutic. Now this weekend at the Autosound and Style Expo, I bought a Carlsbro PA from Yuri on the forum. He delivered it to the show and I came home and dived out immediately to buy jack plugs and a radio microphone. Sitting soldering things to make mega speaker leads was just the therapy I needed today and unfortunately, I let my native utter delight in what this pile of kit represents, get the better of me and let this day-delayed already wee blog get held up even longer.

So, Adam Rayner now comes complete with a pretty damn potent stereo PA system and 100 feet of mains extension! Expect to see me at some open days, like the one planned by Lowestoft's Dalco in April (18^th in fact) where I will be, to help gee ‘em up, nag people and generally be the MC Dude!

The much-vaunted new test boxes are here at last and I will be getting the coaxes lined up to play with them and I have an EPIC nugget for you and hints of another....

Kenwood Electronics have given Talk Audio some Golden Tickets. Far more rare than Willy Wonka's Golden Tickets, these are tickets to the Gadget Show Live in Birmingham for the Saturday!

Long since utterly sold out, I am going as a press dude (if they accredit me as such!) and one lucky bleeder will win a pair of tickets. There is another, even huger thing that Kenwood are going to announce about what they are doing at the show which we will publish as soon as we have the embargo lifted and I can tell you it's MAJOR!
